Custom Applications Monitoring

While creating a new screen in Custom Application, I get a message "The SNMP Object Identifier specified is invalid or is not a 'Simple' type as specified by the 'Attribute Type' option."
While adding a Custom Application Monitor, the WebLogic Model MBeans are not listed for configuration.
Can I connect to the MBean Server of a JDK 1.5 Java Application ?
I am unable to add an enterprise specific SNMP OID or custom attributes in the SNMP/Network device for monitoring.
